Valentine's Day Excitement

Valentine's Day Excitement – History of Valentine's Day

Every February, Valentine's Day excitement starts to build as couples anticipate their special evening together. This day is traditionally celebrated by giving gifts and tokens of love and appreciation. However, many people don't know what the origins of this holiday are. Valentine's Day started out during the Roman Empire. Some say that February 14th was the holiday to honor Juno, who was the Roman Goddess of marriage and women, and that this was adapted into the holiday that we celebrate today. Others say that it originated from Saint Valentine, who martyred for refusing to give up Christianity and died on February 14th

It's said that before he died, St. Valentine left a farewell note to the daughter of the jailer, and signed it "from your Valentine." Another factor is that according to history, February 14th was the day that was devoted to love lotteries in ancient Rome. It was the tradition that young women would write their names on slips of paper and place them into jars. The young men would then draw a girl's name from this jar and be paired with her for Juno's festival. This could contribute to the overall Valentine's Day excitement that we still feel today.

Whatever the exact origins of Valentine's Day are, it has survived for thousands of years and is still a holiday that is celebrated with excitement and passion today. To add to the Valentine's Day excitement, couples can choose from a number of ways to celebrate. Some give each other gifts of chocolates, roses, and stuffed animals, while others will give more personalized gifts. Couples usually go out for dinner or make a special meal at home, and some will even celebrate with lavish trips abroad. No matter how you choose to celebrate, it's a good idea to find a way to let the special people in your life know how important they are to you.

Flowers are one of the best ways to share Valentine's Day excitement, with red roses being the most traditional gift to give sweethearts. Red roses are a symbol of undying love and affection, and have been given for centuries to loved ones. However, any type of flower that you enjoy can be given as a gift. For a special surprise, these bouquets can be delivered to your loved one's school or place of work, to brighten up their day and make them excited to be with you. This is what Valentine's Day is all about.
